Focus: Scribbled Flowrs

Today we are focusing on Scribbled Flowers
This set has a total of six flowers, two of which are double-step. However, the layers of the double-step flowers can also be used individually to achieve a different look. A lot can be done with this set, and I hope that today's projects will give you a glimpse of the many different possibilities.
Stamp, cut, and layer. Once you have lots of flowers, it is really fun to play with them and see what arrangement looks good. Most of the flowers in this card have pastel shades, but the dark red ones in the center help the eyes focus on a spot given that half the card is covered in flowers. It did take some time to trim all those flowers, and this prompts me to design some coordinating dies soon!
I think the scribbled flowers look beautiful embossed in white over vellum! I kept this card simple to let the floral ensemble take center stage. For the center flower, I used the small scribbled "petals" from the set to add volume to one of the flowers. You can use this technique to make your own custom size scribbled flower! The circle behind the flowers is a textured shimmery card stock that I ran through a filigree embossing folder.
Simple one-layer stamping isn't always so simple, and I often end up with multiple trial cards. I started stamping on this card without a plan, and almost threw it away several times, specially after adding yellow the sea green flower, but I was determined to keep going and make it work. It doesn't look perfect, but I think it has a whimsical artistic beauty to it.
Gold on black always looks glamorous, and this card does have a bit of that glamour up close. The first picture doesn't do the colors much justice, however, the close-up one is truer to life, as the embossing powder I used has a pinkish hue to it (Ranger Queen Gold embossing powder).
With water color being so popular among paper crafters these days, I had to use it with Scribbled Flowers! Here I created a fun background using Peerless water colors. The two layers from one of the double-step flowers were embossed individually over the colorful background. The sentiment was embossed in white over a strip of black card stock.
Last but not least, we have this beautiful elegant card from Jen. The flowers were stamped in dark yellow and Delicata gold ink for some sparkle. Don't they look stunning paired with die cut chevrons?! I love the frame, and how the sentiment strip and the chevrons extend over it on one side.
