Focus: Ramadan Greetings & Eid Greetings
Hello!
Today we are doing a focus feature, and starting with two sets: Ramadan Greetings and Eid Greetings.
For those who do not know, Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic Lunar Calender, and today is most likely the last day of Ramadan! I say most likely because the lunar months determined through moon sighting. During this month Muslims fast from dawn to sunset throughout the month.
Although this month is coming to an end, I still wanted to share a couple of cards using this set. Perhaps you will find some inspiration for next year. :)
I started with a very simple card using the emboss resist technique with some watercolors. I originally stamped a sentiment from the set in black, but later decided that the Dymo Label sentiment looked better. Something to keep in mind when I design another Ramadan set for next year!
You can combine the greetings from this set with any design using stamps from other sets. Here I used two stamps from our Dodecagram set to create a patter down the center of my card base. The sentiment was embossed in white on textured green card stock.
Next is the Eid Greetings set:
After Ramadan, the first day of the next month is the Eid day, which is a day of celebration and festivities.
In this card I stamped the flowers on a piece of white card stock, then colored inside with coloring pencils. The sentiments was embossed in white on a strip of black card stock. Once again, I had first stamped it directly on the white piece, but decided later that bold black strip looked better.
In this card I used flowers from Magnolias for Her for background stamping. I added a few scattered flowers to add some color. The sentiment was stamped, trimmed and raised on foam tape.
I almost discarded this card as it started out pretty bad! I had originally stamped the flowers directly on the card base, first using white pigment ink then layering on top with yellow and pink pigment ink. I also had the sentiment in silver, you can still see some of on certain parts. Instead of throwing it away, I stamped the sentiment again in black, and decided to try a different color combo for the flowers, but this time I painstakingly cut each one and layered them. I used second generation stamping for the grey flowers. As a finishing touch I used Ranger's white enamel to place the dots. A successful rescue attempt if I may say so! :)
Last but not least, I once again used stamps from the Dodecagram set to create a pattern on the lower left corner of the card base. I stamped the sentiments in grey on a strip of white card stock and adhered it at an angle to go with flow of the pattern.
