Virginia's Guest Design (Week 2)

Hello dear Altenew friends! It's Virginia's 2nd week here at Altenew blog. Thank you for your wonderful comments for last week's debut. The theme for this week is "Ink Them Up". We are looking into a few different color mediums. There's an old saying: " A Little Goes a Long Way".  Well, it is true when it comes to applying inks!

Let's start with one of my favorite coloring mediums--alcohol inks. It is formulated to create vibrant hues and colors when dabbed with Alcohol Blending Solution on non-porous glossy paper. Alcohol inks are easy and fun to use to create large open images, such as Magnolias for Her. For my first card, I basically created a colorful yet subtle image with alcohol inks.

After the inks (Wild Plum and Pink Sherbet ) dried, I stamped the magnolias and cut them out. The shades and depth of colors truly enhance the stamped designs. I also added Perfect Pearl Liquid for the centers of the Magnolias.

My 2nd card was created in much the same fashion, just in different colors.

Missing You!

With the ink applicator, I used Sail Boat Blue, Cloudy Blue, Butterscotch and Sunset Orange (see here) with Alcohol Blending Solution. This Ori Kami set is perfect for this medium. I also used some tinted blue embossing paste with a stencil to simulate the water droplets.

Another popular yet easy way to color the images is using Distress Inks with water as the color medium. The image from Sketchy Cities is perfect for this.

sending happy thoughts your way

It took very little time and effort to color the entire city scape.I also added some light blue and stamped the sentiment over it.

Lastly, I am sharing another new favorite color medium of mine---Gelatos. I used the Spotlight Technique and focused on a smaller portion of the city skyline. You can see the process here in my blog.

Here is the close-up of the circle die cut. One thing I did was to emboss the entire circle in clear embossing powder. The image looks sharper and even more shiny!

I hope you enjoy today's post. These stamps are so versatile that no matter what your inking level is, you can easily find a creative way to ink them up. I look forward to sharing more awesomeness of Altenew stamps here next Wednesday. Thanks so much for stopping by!
