Focus: Figure Effects

Hello!

Today we are focusing on Figure Effects

Design Inspiration: Stick figures are great for telling stories. Back in 2012 I used this concept for designing a Birthday card.

Ever since then, I knew that if I ever designed stamps, I would design a set with stick figures. Their various postures can covey so much!

Name Origin: Just as "sound effects" gives life to a scene, "figure effects" gives action to a message. :)

Creative Ideas:

The stick figures in this set are great for creating a scene. Here I masked part of the card base at an angle, then sponged so me green ink onto the unmasked area. Next I stamped the image, the sentiment and the hearts. I popped one heart on foam tape to give tiny bit of dimension to this card.

Here I created another scene using the two standing stick figures in action. First I stamped the branch of leaves from the Hennah Elements set using two shades of green. To create the grassy ground, I sponge on some ink using a sponge dauber. After stamping the stick figures in Black, I added some shadow lines using a green marker. The sentiment is embossed in white on a Terracota colored card stock.

On this card, I first stamped the flowers from the Painted Flowers set to create the impression of a Rose Garden foreground. I preferred to leave the scene incomplete by letting the Stick figures float in mid-air.

As you have seen so far, this set works well integrated with others. On this card, I used four shapes from the Simple shapes set to create the block for our stick people to rest upon. I did try several combination of colors before I was satisfied with the final result.

Jen created this gorgeously breathtaking scene with the aid of patterned papers. She stamped the stick people on a die cut circle, and layered some flowers behind it cut from patterned paper. She grounded the scene with a gradient patterned paper sentiment strip. The contrast between the bold zigzag pattern and the soft flowers directs the eyes right to our little scene, perfectly designed and executed!

I hope you found some inspiration here today! I can't wait to see what you make your set! Don't forget to add your projects to our flickr gallery.
