Focus: Quilled Elegance
Good afternoon! Today's focus is all about the Quilled Elegance stamp set.
Design Inspiration: Paper Quilling
Creative Ideas:
When we had our July blog hop, I shared the above card. This shows you how you can use the set in a simple, straightforward way. The image was colored with fun, bright colors, then enamel dots were scattered onto the cardstock. The sentiment was stamped onto a strip of white cardstock, and the whole thing was then mounted to a grey card base.
This card is a little less traditional. It was very difficult to photograph due to the soft colors, but it looks quite lovely in real life. The "hello" stamp was embossed in white onto sturdy tissue paper (almost the thickness of vellum), and was adhered to the green triangle strip with two lines of stitching. I left the ends free so that it would be a bit more playful. The patterned paper is accented with some scattered sequins.
The card above shows you how you can take a small element from a stamp set (in this case, the quilled heart), and turn it into a fun and colorful background! I stamped the hearts in four different inks, and colored each one with the same light grey Copic Marker. I made my first ever "thread nest," and popped on a sentiment from Label Love to finish the card!
Here, I used stamped onto a Shrinky Dink plastic sheet with StazOn ink, and carefully colored it with colored pencils. When I cut it out, I made sure to leave two holes (made with a regular hole punch), then blasted it with my heat tool. It was pretty scary watching it wrinkle and fold up on itself, but it eventually flattened out :) I put the finished piece onto jump rings and made a fun necklace out of it!
Tasnim made this elegant card by stamping the "hello" with Memento ink, then coloring it in with Copic Markers (RV69, Y26 and Y21). To get the gradient on each letter, she flicked the marker tip, then used a Copic blender to blend it all together. For some extra shine, she accented the card with Wink of Stella.
We hope you enjoyed this focus, and can't wait to see what you create with Quilled Elegance!
