June's Guest Designer-Virginia Lu
Dear Altenew friends: It's Virginia Lu at the Altenew blog today. I am absolutely delighted and honored to be the guest designer for this month. When Tasnim invited me to do the guest design, I almost fell off the chair when I saw the e-mail! How can anyone turn down the chance to play with Altenew Stamps? It's a YES from Virginia! As I anticipated the arrival of Altenew stamps, I started to think about what kind of cards I would be making. It was somewhat daunting because I wanted to do the stamps justice. Once I started playing with the stamps, I knew that the stamps would do all the "talking". For the next few Wednesdays,I have planned a different theme for each week. This week's theme is "Flower Power".
Let's start with Painted Flowers.
What can I say? There is nothing like this multi-step stamp set! It comes with 26 images and each one of them is there for a reason! I felt like an ARTIST when I stamped those lovely flowers. One thing I suggest is to practice by stamping a few flowers to get the shapes and depth right. I actually printed this sheet out for my reference. It proved to be very helpful!
I started out with masking. Then I picked out the flower images and composed the design. After stamping the flowers, I decided to use Label Love for the sentiment. With the gold thread and pop-up dimensions, this card is complete!
My 2nd project was created with Hennah Elements and water-coloring. Again, I used Label Love for the sentiment. Love the contrast of colors!
After inking up Distress Inks on an acrylic block, I then spritzed the block with water and created a colorful background. With the same colors, I decorated the kraft gift bag to match the tag!
Notice the white decorative lace border? It was white-embossed!
Lastly, I am concluding the Flower Power theme with a one layer card created with Hennah Elements. All I did was stamp two flowers on thin paper and used them as masks. I started with the largest flower and then stamped the rest of the flowers and vines/leaves.
With these intricate and polished images, you really can't go wrong. As you can tell, I had a BLAST playing with the Altenew stamps! I hope that you enjoy seeing these stamps coming to life through my creations. Next Wednesday's post will have to do with "alcohol" (alcohol inks, that is). Thanks for stopping by!
